Intarsia is a specialized way of cutting
various pieces of different colored wood into shapes, and assembling
them into a picture. Because cutting the wood pieces needs to be very
precise, 99% of all the wood that is cut is done on a scroll saw. A
scroll saw has the most precision cutting ability of any wood cutting
tool for creating Intarsia.
Wendy has been practicing the art of
Intarsia for about ten years now, and thoroughly enjoys making new art
pieces. She can take a good photograph of just about anything, and make
a piece of Intarsia art out of it. Animals are her favorite subjects to
create, and she has done some commissioned work as trophies for several
dog breed clubs. She has also done flowers, cars, musical instruments
and many other items.
Each piece that she creates is branded and
numbered, so that the purchaser knows they have a one of a kind piece
of art.
It can take up to six weeks for Wendy to
create your own personal wood art, as there are several steps that must
be performed to create the art with exact precision. There are also
temperature and moisture restraints that must be adhere to during the
process to create the most beautiful art that will last a lifetime.
