As an artist, I find myself grounded in reality: the particular, the focused, the well-observed or specifically imagined.  In my art I search for the moments and images that hold simple truth, quiet joys, sorrows and the ordinary magic that compose the majority of our lives. I attempt to define these moments within the context of nature and landscape. Creating art gives me the freedom to define and renew my world every time I put pencil to paper.

Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana,      Margie Crisp got to Texas as soon as she could.  When she is not in her studio or making prints at Slugfest Printmaking Workshop, she can be found teaching classes at the Austin Museum of Art.  A nationally exhibited artist, her charcoal drawings, lithographs and linoleum cuts can be found in private and public collections including The Austin Museum of Art, The Grace Museum, Abilene, Texas; The Tyler Museum of Art, Tyler, Texas, Phoenix Arts Commission Print Collection, Phoenix, Arizona; Instituto des Artes Plasticos, Universidad Veracruzana, Xalapa, Mexico; and the Art in Public Places Print Collection, Austin, Texas.

Margie Crisp’s prints are available for viewing in Elgin at Kingfisher Fine Art & Music, 116 Depot, or by appointment. Please call for additional information.
